If I am elected as New Windsor Town Supervisor this Tuesday, November 5, open government starts DAY 1. The Town will immediately go above and beyond the mandated legal requirements to supply information to our residents and taxpayers.
As of now the only requirement for public notice for most town business is a legal ad in a little read local newspaper that is nearly impossible to find in a store to purchase. This is NOT acceptable. Day 1 under my administration the town will use multiple forms of communication to make information public and easily accessible. This includes social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, text messages, the town’s website, and email lists. New Windsor residents shouldn’t have to struggle to find any type of information in this day and age of technology.
A second critical part to open government is accessibility to the Town Supervisor. I’ll be in town hall daily for town residents. Resident’s calls will be returned each and every day. For my past 12 years as Supervisor residents were able to call my office and make an appointment for me to come to their house or business for issues. This will start day 1 as well.
Have you seen any of this going on now with the current New Windsor administration? Under my administration tax payers will be able to get information and answers from a responsive Town of New Windsor government.
